Integrating Psychoanalytic Thinking into  Psychology

Module 2 – Psychoanalytic formulation and implications for practice

Overview

The Integrating Psychoanalytic Thinking into Psychology course is an online programme, running over three terms, to deepen the theoretical understanding and practice of psychoanalysis/psychoanalytic psychotherapy, as relevant to clinical and counselling psychology.

Module 2 offers an overview of psychopathology, with a focus on psychoanalytic personality theory and its implications for practice. In discussing clinical material, continuous attention will be paid to issues of difference, including race, gender, sexuality, class, and culture.

The Integrating Psychoanalytic Thinking into Psychology course is a facilitated, self-study, online programme that includes both live and pre-recorded lectures. The group is managed by a facilitation team, who are available to answer questions and provide guidance.

For students interested in sharing the learning experience with other participants, the facilitators will create small study groups, who can meet between sessions (this part of the programme is not compulsory).
